On the same day, Wednesday, May 4, Marc-Antoine Jamet, President of Cosmetic Valley, was visiting two leading companies in the cosmetics sector in the Aunay business area of Nogent-le-Rotrou.

Eurowipes, the wipes maker, and Marie-Laure PLV, the point-of-sale advertising specialist, have a huge need to develop and hire. Eurowipes is looking for twenty-four jobs right away and is in danger of experiencing production line stoppages in the coming weeks.

Marie-Laure PLV plans to hire sixty-five new employees. At the heart of this global crisis and despite the return of inflation and the stagnation of the Chinese market, the companies of the Cosmetic Valley competitiveness cluster are developing in Perche, as in the entire Center-Val de Loire region.

continue to grow

“We have new projects to continue these great years of growth in so-called impregnated supports, such as wet wipes, cotton pads and cosmetic masks. We are targeting double-digit growth again this year. We also hope to pass the symbolic bar of two hundred employees when we currently have just over one hundred and ninety”, explains Olivier Hourcade, general manager of Eurowipes in Nogent-le-Rotrou.

Eurowipes intensively seeks its production services, line operators, technicians and handlers with permanent contracts. The company is committed to training them: “In addition, we have a social policy that has evolved a lot and is moving in the right direction. We even created a sponsorship bonus of €800 for employees who manage to convince the people around them”, says the manager.

The perfumery-cosmetic sector offers diverse and varied jobs

While the site is being expanded by another 10,000 m2, for storage space to free up space for production, thanks to the support of the Center-Val de Loire Region, the manager is already planning the arrival next summer of an additional bag production line. .

“This will allow us to participate in the war effort against Covid-19. We will produce disinfectant wipes in individual sachets for airlines or institutions. This new line will help us to export to Canada and the United States of America”, adds Olivier Hourcade, who also intends to continue developing his activity in medical devices, a very competitive niche with the presence of European and Turkish companies.

“Where these competitors manufacture non-branded products, we choose to manufacture quality products with high added value. For us, innovation is allied to respect for the environment. »

Acquisition of three companies

For its part, the Marie-Laure PLV group, created in 1982, celebrates its fortieth anniversary this year by becoming an intermediate-sized company (FTE) in the field of packaging and point-of-sale advertising.

A few months ago, the group acquired three companies: Chaudesaigues, specializing in ironwork, carpentry and locksmithing in Champigny-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne); Vimage, specializing in the creation of event podiums, corners, convention seminars, gondolas, special showcases, prototypes and unique pieces in Brie-Comte-Robert (Seine-et-Marne); Ledia specializes in the design, production and installation of stand decoration combined with the most innovative production techniques in Hermival-les-Vaux (Calvados).

“Our group, Marie-Laure PLV Merchandising, is enriching its offering with the creation of a new Fittings & Events division, Marie-Laure shop fitting solutions, together with its merchandising division. With the acquisition of the three companies, we want to offer a 360° offer to our customers with products made in France”, says Marie-Laure Traux-Binsse, president of the Marie-Laure PLV group.

The company has earned an excellent reputation and a good image in the Cosmetic Valley and works for the French giants in the sector. Marie-Laure PLV even manages to attract Chinese people who want to improve the presentation of their products to their group.

The Nogent-le-Rotrou site employs three hundred people and plans to expand to hire fifty-five to sixty new people as part of the integration of the production activities of the companies acquired during this external growth operation.

“We have 520 employees in France, including 120 jobs created in the last ten years. We reached an annual turnover of 70 million euros in a market that is growing by +12%. »

The record supply of jobs in Eure-et-Loir in 2022 comes up against a glaring labor shortage in all sectors

The project to expand the current facilities in Nogent-le-Rotrou is also part of this logic of returning or moving the industry to rural areas and forgotten territories outside the metropolitan areas: “Nogent-le-Rotrou is 15 kilometers from La Ferté- Bernardo Moving from one to the other, we change department and region. But in this small territory, between Eure-et-Loir, Orne and Sarthe, more than 10,000 industrial jobs are in dispute and they cannot find anyone who will accept them. the Center-Val de Loire region, Normandy and Pays de la Loire, there is no training. Our objective is to label a training campus to offer a real opportunity to keep our youth in our territory, because the young people who go to Le Mans, Orléans or Tours never come back”, explains Harold Huwart, vice-president of the .Centro-Val de Loire region and president of the Community of communes of Perche.
